Doro Böhme Tribute

Doro passed away on March 20th, 2020 after another battle with cancer. After the terminal diagnosis, she chose hospice care as opposed to what would have been endless rounds of chemotherapy- a therapy she knew only too well- for the chance of living a few extra months. Like all things Doro Böhme, she stoically went about her final days doing her utmost to enjoy her family, her short remaining time on earth, and her many many friends who texted, emailed, and phoned asking if there was anything they could do to make her more comfortable.

Doro had so many friends and admirers for the work she did curating the Joan Flasch Artist Book Collection (JFABC) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her photographs (posted faithfully to this site, facebook back in the days when she still trusted it, and, more recently instagram (yes, more Facebook but a tad bit less insidious). Doro asked to keep the site up and maintained and while I don’t know what shape that will take, I will know in the coming months and I start to sort out the countless folders on her many hard drives.

For now, here’s a short tribute for anyone wishing to experience just a little more of the woman with whom I shared the majority of my adult life, love, and the responsibilities and joys of raising our beautiful daughter Klara.
